US Dollars (cash, notes dated 2009 or later, in good condition) are widely accepted for park fees, tips, and many lodges. Tanzanian Shillings are useful for local markets and small purchases. Credit cards are accepted at most lodges and hotels in towns but connectivity in remote camps can be unreliable, so we recommend carrying sufficient cash for tips and incidentals.
