Rau forest day tour Moshi

1 Day

Rau Forest is a montane forest located on the southern slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro. It’s a beautiful and well-preserved forest reserve that covers an area of about 13,000 hectares. The forest is home to a variety of bird species, monkeys, and other wildlife, making it a perfect destination for nature walks and birdwatching. The area also holds cultural significance for the local Chaga people, who live around the forest and depend on it for resources.

The day starts with a pick-up from your hotel or accommodation in Moshi. You’ll head out in a comfortable vehicle for a short drive to the entrance of the forest, passing through the rural Tanzanian countryside.

Upon arrival at the Rau Forest entrance, you’ll meet your local guide, who will provide you with an introduction to the forest’s history, its ecosystem, and its cultural significance to the Chaga community. You’ll learn about the various plant and animal species that call this forest home.
