Overview
\\n
Zanzibar is an archipelago off Tanzania\\\’s coast in the Indian Ocean, its main island (Unguja, usually just called \”Zanzibar\”) ringed with powder-white beaches and coral reefs, and its interior rich with centuries of Swahili, Arab, Persian, and European history. It\\\’s the natural finale to a Tanzania safari — a direct flight from Arusha or Kilimanjaro puts you on the beach in under two hours.

Wildlife
\\n
Zanzibar\’s wildlife draw is largely marine: coral reefs teeming with tropical fish, dolphin pods off the northern and southeastern coasts, and (on Zanzibar\’s Blue Safari sailing trips) excellent snorkeling around Mnemba Atoll. On land, Jozani Forest is the best place to see the endemic Zanzibar red colobus monkey.

Best Time to Visit
\\n
June–October and December–February are generally the driest, most popular periods. March–May brings the long rains and quieter beaches at lower prices, while November\’s short rains are typically brief and rarely disrupt a trip.
