Overview
\\n
Materuni Waterfalls tumble roughly 90 meters down a forested cliff on the southern foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro, near the village of Materuni outside Moshi. It\’s one of the most popular day trips in the Kilimanjaro region, and for good reason: a scenic walk through banana and coffee plantations, a swim at the base of the falls, and — usually paired into the same day — a hands-on traditional coffee-making demonstration with a local Chagga family, from picking the beans to roasting and grinding them the traditional way.

Wildlife
\\n
This is a scenic and cultural day trip rather than a game-viewing destination — expect birdlife, butterflies, and lush montane vegetation rather than big game.

Best Time to Visit
\\n
Year-round, though the falls are at their most dramatic just after the rainy seasons (roughly April–May and November–December) when water flow is highest.

Climate
\\n
Cool and green year-round given the elevation and proximity to Kilimanjaro\’s rainforest belt; a light rain jacket is worth packing even in the dry season.

How to Get There
\\n
About 40–50 minutes\’ drive from Moshi, making Materuni an easy half-day trip either before or after a Kilimanjaro climb, or as a standalone excursion from Arusha or Moshi.
