Overview
\\n
Ruaha National Park is Tanzania\’s largest, covering over 20,000 square kilometers of the country\’s southern wilderness. Where the Great Rift Valley meets the edge of the Southern Highlands, Ruaha\’s landscape of baobab-studded escarpments, the Great Ruaha River, and vast miombo woodland supports one of Africa\’s most significant elephant populations and an outstanding density of large predators — while receiving a fraction of the visitors of the northern parks.
\\n
This is a destination for travelers who want a genuine wilderness experience: fewer vehicles, longer game drives, and sightings that feel earned rather than guaranteed.

Best Time to Visit
\\n
June to October (dry season) offers the best game viewing, as wildlife concentrates along the Great Ruaha River. The park is far less visited than northern Tanzania year-round, so even shoulder-season game drives feel wonderfully uncrowded.

How to Get There
\\n
Most visitors fly into Ruaha via scheduled light aircraft from Dar es Salaam or Zanzibar (roughly 1.5–2 hours), as the park\’s remoteness makes road access impractical for most itineraries. We arrange flights as part of any Southern Circuit safari.
