A minimum of 3–4 days lets you experience 2 parks properly. 5–7 days is our most popular range, allowing time in Tarangire, Ngorongoro, and the Serengeti without feeling rushed. Longer itineraries (8+ days) allow for a more relaxed pace, additional parks, or a Zanzibar beach extension.

Are the safari vehicles shared with other travelers?

No — every Let\’s Wander Tanzania safari uses a private 4×4 safari vehicle with a pop-up roof, exclusively for your group. We don\’t combine unrelated travelers into the same vehicle, so your pace, stops, and photography time are entirely your own.

What should I pack for a Tanzania safari?

Neutral-colored clothing (khaki, olive, tan), a warm layer for early morning game drives, sun protection, comfortable closed shoes, binoculars, and a camera with a zoom lens if you have one. We send a detailed packing list once your safari is confirmed, tailored to your specific itinerary and season.

What is the best time of year for a Tanzania safari?

It depends what you want to see. June to October (dry season) offers the best general game viewing with animals concentrated around water sources. December to March is calving season on the Ndutu Plains, with extraordinary predator action. The Great Migration river crossings typically happen July–October in the Mara/northern Serengeti. We tailor your itinerary to your travel dates and priorities.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1

Arrival → Tarangire National Park

Your guide meets you at Kilimanjaro International Airport, Arusha, or collects you following your Zanzibar flight, and drives you to Tarangire National Park. You arrive in time for an afternoon game drive along the Tarangire River, where some of Tanzania's largest elephant herds gather beneath towering baobab trees, alongside lion, giraffe, zebra, and the park's resident bird life. Overnight at a lodge or tented camp inside or near the park. Meals: Lunch & Dinner.
Day 2

Tarangire → Ngorongoro Crater

After an early breakfast and a final game drive in Tarangire, you drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, descending 600 meters onto the crater floor for a full morning game drive across one of Africa's most concentrated wildlife arenas — home to an estimated 25,000 large animals, including the endangered black rhino. After a picnic lunch on the crater floor, you ascend and begin your return transfer to Arusha or the airport, marking the end of a fast-paced but unforgettable two days. Meals: Breakfast & Lunch.
