This eleven-day itinerary is the complete Tanzania experience, pairing a full week of calving-season safari across the Northern Circuit with four unhurried days on the beaches of Zanzibar. It\’s our most popular longer itinerary for honeymooners and couples wanting both the drama of the bush and genuine beach relaxation in a single trip.

The safari portion follows the same route as our 5-day calving season safari — Tarangire, Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro, and the Ndutu Plains — with additional time built in for a more relaxed pace, before a short flight delivers you straight to the white sand and turquoise water of Zanzibar for the second half of your trip.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Arusha → Tarangire National Park

    Depart Arusha and drive to Tarangire National Park, arriving in time for an afternoon game drive along the Tarangire River. Overnight near Tarangire. Meals: Lunch & Dinner.

  2. Day 2

    Full Day Tarangire → Lake Manyara Area

    A full day exploring Tarangire's elephant herds and baobab-studded landscape before transferring to the Lake Manyara area in the late afternoon. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.

  3. Day 3

    Ngorongoro → Ndutu Plains

    Drive along the Ngorongoro Conservation Area rim before continuing to the short-grass plains of Ndutu, arriving in time for an introductory calving-season game drive. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.

  4. Day 4

    Full Day Ndutu — Calving Season

    A full day tracking wildebeest herds and predator activity across the Ndutu plains at the height of calving season. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.

  5. Day 5

    Second Day Ndutu — Extended Exploration

    An additional full day in Ndutu, exploring further afield with a picnic lunch in the field — the extra time significantly increases your chances of witnessing predator action during calving season. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.

  6. Day 6

    Ngorongoro Crater → Arusha

    An early descent into the Ngorongoro Crater for a full morning game drive, before ascending and driving back to Arusha in the afternoon. Meals: Breakfast & Lunch.

  7. Day 7

    Rest Day / Buffer Day, Arusha

    A flexible buffer day in Arusha — useful for flight connections, an optional Arusha National Park half-day, or simply resting before the beach half of your trip. Meals: Breakfast.

  8. Day 8

    Arusha → Zanzibar

    Transfer to the airport for your flight to Zanzibar (approximately 1.5 hours). On arrival, transfer to your beachfront hotel and spend the rest of the day relaxing. Meals: Breakfast.

  9. Day 9

    Zanzibar — Stone Town & Spice Tour

    A guided half-day exploring Stone Town's UNESCO-listed old city and a traditional spice plantation tour, before returning to your hotel for the evening. Meals: Breakfast.

  10. Day 10

    Zanzibar — Free Beach Day

    A full free day to enjoy your beach of choice — swim, snorkel, or simply relax; optional add-ons like Safari Blue or a sunset dhow cruise can be arranged. Meals: Breakfast.

  11. Day 11

    Departure from Zanzibar

    A final relaxed morning before your transfer to Zanzibar Airport for your onward international flight. Meals: Breakfast.
