A two-day safari from Zanzibar is easy to book but worth planning carefully, because the days are long. Here is how the trip works and what to check before you go. You can see the full product on our 2 day safari from Zanzibar page.
1. Choose your dates around the flights
Day 1 starts early, with a hotel pick-up in Zanzibar between about 5 and 6 am and a morning flight to Arusha of roughly 1 to 1.5 hours. On day 2 you fly back on an afternoon or evening flight. Do not book a tight onward connection on the day you return.
2. Know what you will see
Day 1 is Tarangire National Park, with elephants and baobabs, after a drive of about 2 to 2.5 hours from Arusha. Day 2 is the Ngorongoro Crater, where you spend about 4 to 6 hours on the crater floor. The Serengeti is not part of a two-day trip. If it is a priority, look at the 3-day Serengeti and Ngorongoro safari.
3. Pack for coast and crater
Bring neutral clothing, a hat, sunscreen, repellent, binoculars and closed shoes, plus a warm layer because Ngorongoro is cold in the early morning. Luggage limits on domestic flights are often strict, so leave bulky bags at your Zanzibar hotel and travel with a soft bag.
4. Decide who is coming
The trip is private for 2 to 6 people. Children are welcome, and we check lodge age rules for you. Solo travellers pay a single supplement.
5. Check the visa
Zanzibar and mainland Tanzania share one visa. See our Tanzania visa guide.
6. Ask for a quote
The trip starts from $998 per person sharing, with flights included. Read what drives the price in how much a safari from Zanzibar costs, or read our safari from Zanzibar guide.
