2 Day Safari from Zanzibar to Tarangire and Ngorongoro
This is the short safari for people already on a Zanzibar beach: you fly to northern Tanzania, spend a full day among Tarangire’s elephants and baobabs, sleep at Jua Manyara Lodge, descend into the Ngorongoro Crater the next morning and fly back to Zanzibar. Private vehicle, driver-guide, park fees and flights are included.

Day 1: Zanzibar to Tarangire. We collect you from your Zanzibar hotel between about 5 and 6 am and take you to the airport for a morning flight to Arusha (roughly 1 to 1.5 hours). Your driver-guide meets you there, and you drive for about 2 to 2.5 hours to Tarangire National Park, known for its large elephant herds and ancient baobab trees. You spend the day on game drives with a picnic lunch in the park. In the evening you drive for about 1.5 to 2 hours to Jua Manyara Lodge for dinner and the night.
Day 2: Ngorongoro Crater and back to Zanzibar. After breakfast you descend into the Ngorongoro Crater and spend about 4 to 6 hours on the crater floor, where lion, buffalo, hippo, elephant and rhino are often seen. You have a picnic lunch, then climb out of the crater and drive to the airport for your afternoon or evening flight back to Zanzibar. We confirm exact flight times when you book.

Price and how we quote
The price starts from $998 per person, based on two people sharing a double or twin room. Solo travellers pay a single supplement. The final price depends on your dates, group size and any upgrades. Send us your dates and we reply within 24 hours with a clear quote that lists what is and is not included. For a breakdown of what affects the cost, read how much a safari from Zanzibar costs.
Is a 2 day safari from Zanzibar right for you?
It suits beach travellers who want a real taste of Tanzanian wildlife without giving up many days. It also works for couples and for families with children who cope with early starts. Children are welcome, and we confirm lodge age policies for you. It is a short trip with long days, and it does not include the Serengeti. If you can spare more time, see our 3-day Serengeti and Ngorongoro safari or read how to plan a two-day safari from Zanzibar.
Best time, and what to pack
June to October is the dry season and the best time for wildlife, especially in Tarangire. November and the March to May rains are greener with fewer visitors. See the month-by-month guide. Pack light, neutral clothing, a hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, binoculars and closed shoes, and bring a warm layer because Ngorongoro is cold in the early morning.
